The ever-present dangers of natural disasters and technological accidents have contributed to the issue of critical infrastructure protection becoming an indispensable part of national security strategies. Communities are permanently facing increased weather variability, but also an unstable economic and geopolitical situation. Due to these turbulences, the area of critical infrastructure protection is experiencing significant changes in terms of operational needs, challenges and threats. In this regard, there was a need for theoretical and practical analysis of this area, as well as the creation of practicums to solve identified problems. Recognizing this need, the Institute for Risk Assessment and Critical Infrastructure from Podgorica decided to publish a series of books \u201cCritical Infrastructure Protection\u201d that keeps pace with key changes, expanding historical research, exploring major areas of interest for critical infrastructure, regulatory framework, cooperation, risk and planned response, recovery and prevention, and providing support to those working on themselves, whether they are government regulators, operators, stakeholders and clients of various infrastructure sectors, or preparing their organizations and companies for challenges likely to arise in the coming period.<\/p>\n
The third book<\/strong> in the series is entitled Critical Infrastructure Protection: Risk and Risk Management<\/strong>. It is known that increasingly pronounced threats and increasingly unstable and operational environments present challenges at all levels. With this in mind, the third book presents a unique and new perspective of reviewing the basic requirements against a range of changing factors, taking a balanced approach between risk-based planning and consequence management. The book covers the following topics: risk management in critical infrastructure, methods and techniques for risk assessment, EU guidelines for risk assessment and risk management from the perspective of the US Department of Homeland Security.<\/p>\n
